Wedgewood Brokers Ltd
About us

An independent commercial insurance broker.

Forty-five years placing UK business risk, with named brokers, in-house claims support and access to a specialist insurer panel.

Who we are

The broker, in plain English.

Wedgewood Brokers is an independent commercial insurance broker working across the UK. We place commercial cover for tradespeople, motor traders, hauliers, couriers, landlords, hospitality operators and the businesses in between, anyone whose insurance is too specific for a generic online quote and too important for a call-centre conversation.

Forty-five years of broking experience sits behind the firm. That is not a marketing line. It is what allows us to know which insurer to approach for which trade, which underwriter will look past a tricky claim history, and which markets will write a risk that a direct insurer would decline at the door.

Every client is assigned a named broker, one person who handles the placement, the renewal, the mid-term changes and any claims that arrive. The model is deliberately old-fashioned in the things that matter to a client and modern in the things that do not.

How we work

Four things you should expect from us.

The broker proposition, in detail. None of this is a competitive jab, it is the way commercial insurance ought to be placed, and the way we run.

You get a named broker, not a queue.

A real person who knows your business, your renewal date and your claims history. When you call, they pick up. When something changes, they remember it.

We approach the market on your behalf.

Specialist commercial insurers, including markets that do not deal direct and harder-to-fit risks. The work of finding the right insurer is ours, not yours.

Dedicated claim handlers.

From first notification to final settlement, your broker is on the file alongside a dedicated handler. No hand-off to an insurer claims line, no chasing for updates.

Renewal is a conversation, not a refresh.

Every renewal is a chance to review the cover against the year that just was. Trade changes, claims experience, contracts won, they all feed the next placement.

Regulation and standards

The compliance floor.

Regulation is the floor, not the selling point. But for prospects evaluating a broker, the regulatory posture matters.

  • Authorised and regulated by the FCA

Firm reference [FCA_NUMBER]. Our authorisation covers the arranging, advising on and administering of general insurance contracts for commercial clients.

  • FCA Consumer Duty

We operate under the Consumer Duty rules, fair value, clear communication, products that meet the needs of the client.

  • ICOBS, Insurance Conduct of Business Sourcebook

Our placement and renewal process follows the FCA ICOBS rules, including the demands and needs statement that sits behind every recommendation.

  • Full regulatory statement

For the full text including complaints procedure, FSCS protection and the regulatory framework, see our FCA regulatory statement.
