How it works

Quote in two minutes, broker on the file from day one.

Three steps. We approach the courier specialist market on your behalf, part-time, full-time, owner-driver and parcel network operators all considered.

01

Tell us about the work

Vehicle, type of delivery, hours, claims and conviction history. Two minutes online or a call with a broker, your choice.

02

We approach the panel

Your named broker takes your details to specialist courier insurers. Convictions, young drivers, part-time work, all considered.

03

Cover in place

Documents emailed, payment arranged by your broker. Renewal and any mid-term changes handled by the same person.

What it covers

Hire and reward cover, the minute you take payment to deliver.

Standard motor insurance and social-domestic-pleasure-and-commuting cover do not include paid delivery. Courier insurance fills that gap and keeps you legal.

Courier insurance van work

Multi-drop, parcel delivery insurance, white-goods, same-day, B2B and B2C delivery on Transit, Sprinter, Vivaro and similar, written as hire and reward courier vehicle insurance.

e.g. A multi-drop courier running 60 parcels a day for a national network.

Delivery driver car insurance

Drivers running paid delivery on a private car still need hire and reward. Personal motor policies exclude paid delivery work entirely.

e.g. An owner-driver running evening multi-drop parcel work for a national network.

Sole-trader couriers

Owner-drivers under contract with a parcel network, DPD, Evri, Amazon Flex, Yodel, need policy terms that match the contract.

e.g. A self-employed Amazon Flex driver on a fixed weekly route.

Who buys it

Cover for couriers, drivers and small operators.

The work types we most commonly place courier cover for. Each gets a tailored conversation rather than a one-size policy.

Multi-drop parcel

High-volume parcel networks, DPD, Evri, Yodel, Amazon Flex.

Same-day couriers

B2B same-day delivery in cars, vans and motorbikes.

Owner-driver subcontractors

Self-employed drivers on parcel network contracts.

White-goods and bulky

Two-person teams delivering large items into customer homes.

Medical and pharmacy

Specialist courier work with cold-chain or time-critical loads.

Vehicle transporters

Single-car carriers and trade vehicle delivery.

Part-time / weekend

Evening, weekend and side-business courier work.

Whether you are full-time on a parcel network or running same-day work in evenings, the policy structure adapts. We approach the courier specialist market, convictions, young drivers and short-term cover all considered.

Keep premium down

Four levers that move the price.

Courier premium reflects exposure, but a handful of choices on your side meaningfully change what you pay.

  • Fit telematics

Connected vehicles price below comparable disconnected ones. Many courier insurers offer credit for verified telematics or dashcam usage.

  • Pay annually, not monthly

Monthly direct debits attract admin charges that build up across the year. An annual payment removes that overhead and usually leaves you with a tighter total cost of cover.

  • Take a voluntary excess

Carrying the first slice of any claim yourself reduces the insurer’s exposure and the premium. Effective on stable, low-claim records.

  • Combine motor + GIT

Bundling courier motor with goods in transit on the same renewal usually prices below buying each cover separately.

What's available, what isn't

Optional extras and common exclusions.

A standard courier motor policy covers the driver and vehicle. The list below shows what most insurers will add on, and what falls outside the cover by default.

Optional extras

  • Goods in transit

Cargo cover for the parcels you carry. Often required by network contracts.

  • Public liability

Cover for harm or damage at the customer’s doorstep, common across courier work.

  • Breakdown and recovery

Keeping you on the road when the vehicle stops moving.

  • Tools and equipment

For the gear you carry, sat nav, scanners, trolleys, ramps.

  • Replacement vehicle cover

A like-for-like vehicle while yours is in repair after a claim.

Common exclusions

  • Goods in transit

Cargo loss is on a separate GIT policy, not the courier motor.

  • Personal use of the vehicle

Some policies restrict private use; declare social use upfront.

  • Drivers not declared

Anyone delivering must be named on the policy. Undisclosed drivers void cover.

  • Hazardous goods (without endorsement)

Chemicals, gas, certain medical loads need specific approval.

  • Deliberate or criminal acts

Loss caused intentionally or through criminal conduct is excluded across the market.

Frequently asked

Questions before you click submit.

The questions we hear most often, with straight answers. Anything else, call the office.

  • Yes. The minute you take payment for delivering someone else’s goods you need hire and reward cover, even if it is evenings and weekends only. Specialist insurers write part-time and short-term courier policies for exactly this case. Standard motor insurance excludes paid delivery work entirely.
